TARRING MARKET

The traditional Tarring Market run by St Andrew’s Church takes place on either the last Saturday in May or the first Saturday in June. A Royal charter for holding this event was granted in 1444. It evolved from a flourishing corn market to the fayre attractions we have today.

Stalls, including cakes, preserves, bric-a- brac, books, a bottle tombola, gifts, and a garden stall are very popular and there is usually a bar, hot dog stall, refreshments and activities for children. There are also stalls from the local community.

You can sit and enjoy listening to music played throughout the event by Worthing Silver Band and other local music groups.

There is a Grand Draw with wonderful prizes, tickets for which are sold beforehand as well as during the Market.

Proceeds from the Market go to maintaining the beautiful Parish Church with a proportion given to a local charity. Next years Tarring Market will be on Saturday 30 May 2026. 10am - 2pm.
