St Andrews Choir

St Andrew’s Choir is a well-established, robed mixed-voice SATB choir in the Anglican tradition for both children and adults.

It leads the singing at the weekly Sunday morning service and occasional Choral Evensongs, and other special choral services during the Liturgical Year, including in Advent, Christmas, Holy Week and Easter.

It is robed in the Anglican tradition, affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music, whose aim is to enhance the liturgy through the singing of music selected from a shared heritage of choral music, selected from a shared heritage of choral music, spanning many centuries, in a variety of forms including: plainsong, Anglican chant, settings of the rites for the Eucharist and Offices and anthems.

The choir currently rehearses at St Andrews in the beautiful Chancel on a Friday evening from 7-8.30PM and on a Sunday morning at 9.30AM.

Join St Andrew’s Choir

St Andrews is currently seeking to recruit new members of all ages to share in the joy of combining with others in singing wonderful music which hopefully contributes to the communication and illumination of the Christian message at a deeper level.

Specifically for parents: we are looking to recruit young singers, aged 8 and above, to join the choir, where they will receive training as choral singers but also a knowledge of appropriate musical theory to enable them to read music. This training will be valuable to them if they study a musical instrument or taking Music as a subject at school.

We will be offering four Choral Scholarships for four older male students, ideally still in full time education, to train as tenors and basses, for which a modest remuneration will be made.

We would like to encourage anyone who enjoys singing and would relish the opportunity to develop the skills to be part of the choir singing beautiful music to a high standard to consider this opportunity.

If you think you might be interested please contact me at the email address below, briefly describing your specific area of interest and any relevant singing or musical experience you have.

Looking very much to hearing from you.
